Two unseeded players will meet in Sunday’s singles final of the Wilhelmshöhe Open, as Jurgen Zopp from Estonia will take on Germany’s Jan Choinski for the title of the $25,000 ITF Futures title.

Zopp eased past German wild card entry Dominik Boehler 6-1, 6-1. The 29-year-old from Estonia didn’t face a break point and converted five of his own six chances to advance in only 53 minutes. Zopp captured two ATP Challenger career titles and had been part of the Top 100 for two years but has struggled with his results in recent times. The current World No. 480 will vie for his first title since 2014.

Choinski knocked out the tournament’s top seed Jeremy Jahn, winning the all-German affair 7-5, 6-2. The 21-year-old withstood seven aces, hitting three of his own to prevail in one hour and 13 minutes.

Zopp won the only previous meeting between the two at an ITF Pro Circuit event in Sweden earlier this season.

Later in the day, Mats Moraing and Tom Schönenberg clinched the doubles title with 7-6, 2-6, 10-2 victory over Austrians Maximilian Neuchrist and David Pichler.

“That’s fantastic,” the German team simply stated after the one hour and 29 minutes encounter.
