VIENNA, October 21, 2017

Second seed Dominic Thiem will open his home campaign in Vienna against #NextGenATP star Andrey Rublev. This has been the result of Saturday’s main draw ceremony of the Erste Bank Open 500 held at the Grand Hotel Vienna.

“We have never played against each other. He has achieved a couple of great results since summer by reaching the quarterfinals of the US Open, where he beat Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin. He has established himself at ATP World Tour-level and I expect an interesting match,” told Thiem about his first round encounter against the World No. 35 from Russia.

Top seed Alexander Zverev, who attended the ceremony alongside Thiem, will take on Viktor Troicki of Serbia. “I would like to end a fantastic season for me in the best possible way. Competition here is very tough but if I am able to play my best tennis, I will achieve some good results,” said Zverev. The German youngster is leading 2-1 in head-to-head records with Troicki.

The tournament’s number three, Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria, who entered the main draw with a wild card, as well as fourth favourite Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain will both open their title bid against a qualifier.
