KNOXVILLE, November 11, 2017

Henri Laaksonen remains the only seeded player left in the singles main draw of the $75,000 Knoxville Challenger after Friday’s quarterfinals.

The tournament’s number two ended the seven match win streak of US-American Tim Smyczek with a 7-6, 6-4 victory. Laaksonen sent down six aces and won 52 per cent of the total points played to advance in one hour and 39 minutes.

The 25-year-old Swiss will next play Filip Peliwo of Canada, who ousted third seed Taylor Fritz from the United States. The qualifier capitalized on three of his six break point chances to secure a 7-6, 6-1 win in one hour and 26 minutes.

Klahn Continues Good Run

Denis Kudla emerged victorious from the all-US-American-encounter with fifth favourite Bjorn Fratangelo, winning 6-1, 3-6, 6-4. The World No. 2017 from Florida will meet compatriot Bradley Klahn in the stage of the final four.

Klahn, who finished runner-up at the ATP Challengers in Fairfield and Monterrey last month, beat Edward Corrie from Great Britian 6-3, 7-6 in one hour and 37 minutes.
