Fritz And Rubin To Meet In All-US-American Final In Nouméa

Taylor Fritz and Noah Rubin will meet in all-US-American singles final at the $75,000 Internationeaux BNP Paribas in Nouméa. Fritz knocked off the tournament’s number seven Kenny de Schepper of France 6-3, 6-7, 7-6 on Friday.

The World No. 104 from California sent down seven aces, winning 74 per cent of his first service points to secure victory in two hours and 24 minutes.

In his first ATP Challenger final since finishing runner-up to Ryan Harrison one year ago, Fritz will face compatriot Noah Rubin, who ousted Frenchman Gleb Sakharov 7-5, 6-3. The 21-year-old from New York broke serve three times to prevail after one hour and 55 minutes.

Fritz and Rubin will meet for the fourth time with the second seed leading 2-1 in head-to-head records. Fritz also won their last encounter in the second round of the Knoxville Challenger.

Later in the day, Hugo Nys of France and Germany’s Tim Pütz clinched the doubles title. The top seeds beat Alejandro Gonzalez of Colombia and Jaume Munar from Spain 6-2, 6-2. The encounter lasted 53 minutes.
