Three Spaniards led by top seed Marcel Granollers found their way into the semi-finals of the $50,000 Bangkok Open. Granollers, who remains undefeated in 2018, beat seventh favourite Yusuke Takahashi from Japan 6-4, 6-1.
The World No. 149 from Barcelona saved the only break point he faced, capitalizing on four of his own to advance in one hour and 40 minutes. Granollers will next play compatriot Bernabé Zapata Miralles, who defeated Evgeny Karlovskiy of Russia 6-3, 6-2. The encounter lasted 65 minutes.
Second seed Enrique López-Pérez edged past Matteo Viola from Italy 7-5, 7-6. The 26-year-old Madrid native won three points more than his opponent to prevail after one hour and 38 minutes. López-Pérez will face Germany’s Mats Moraing in the stage of the final four. The sixth seed ousted Spaniard Pedro Martínez 6-0, 7-5.
