Tobias Simon is the champion of the third edition of the Tennis Pro Open Aargau, a $25,000 ITF Pro Circuit event held on indoor carpet at the Tennisschule Aarau-West in Oberentfelden. The 26-year-old unseeded German stopped the great run of Swiss teenager and wild card entry Jakub Paul in Sunday’s singles final.
Simon dominated the match with his strong serve, firing 15 aces and winning 93 per cent of his first service points. The World No. 509 secured a 6-4, 7-5 victory in 56 minutes.
By lifting his third ITF Futures trophy, his second on Swiss soil, Simon takes away $3,600 in prize money as well as 25 ATP ranking points. Simon will move up one spot to World No. 508 on Monday.
