Berrettini Fights Through In Bergamo

The quarterfinals of the €64,000 Internazionali di Tennis Trofeo Faip-Perrel in Bergamo are set. Top seed Matteo Berrettini defeated Frenchman Constant Lestienne 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 on Thursday evening.

The World No. 121 from Rome struck 12 aces, winning 76 per cent of his first service points to prevail in two hours and 19 minutes. Berrettini will next take on fellow countryman Salvatore Caruso, who eased past Vincent Millot of France 6-0, 6-2.

Adam Pavlasek knocked off No. 8 seed Uladzimir Ignatik of Belarus 6-4, 7-5. The 23-year-old from the Czech Republic converted five of his seven break points to advance in one hour and 32 minutes. Pavlasek will next play third favourite Jurgen Zopp from Estonia.

Andrea Arnaboldi battled past fellow Italian Gianluigi Quinzi 7-6, 3-6, 6-3. The 30-year-old from Milan outpointed his opponent 95-89 to prevail after two hours and nine minutes. Arnaboldi will meet compatriot Stefano Napolitano in the stage of the final eight.
