Jay Clarke of Great Britain captured the title of the third $15,000 Qatar ITF Futures 2018 held on hard courts at the Khalifa International Tennis & Squash Complex in Doha. The top seed defeated the tournament’s No. 7 Pietro Rondoni from Italy 6-1, 7-5 in Saturday’s singles final.
Clarke, who finished runner-up to Benjamin Hassan at same place seven days ago, capitalized on five of his 12 break point opportunities to seal victory in one hour and 26 minutes. The 19-year-old from Derby lifted his fourth ITF Pro Circuit title of his career, his first of the season. Clarke earns $2,160 in prize money as well as 18 ATP ranking points.
On Friday, Fajing Sun from China and Chun Hun Wong of Hongkong clinched the doubles title. The tandem eased past top seeds Marek Gengel and Matej Vocel from the Czech Republic 6-3, 6-3. The final lasted 57 minutes.
