At the age of 28 and after seven ITF Pro Circuit titles, Marco Trungelliti of Argentina, took his first ATP Challenger trophy, winning the €43,000 Citta’ Della Disfida Open in Barletta. The Santiago del Estero native rallied past Italian veteran Simone Bolelli 2-6, 7-6, 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.
Trungelliti, who came from the qualifying, converted four of his eight break point chances to secure victory in two hours and 33 minutes. The World No. 237 earns €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP ranking points and is projected to break inside the Top 200 on Monday.
