MUNICH, May 10, 2018
Kathinka von Deichmann from Liechtenstein has become part of the professional team at the TennisBase Oberhaching. The 23-year-old is currently ranked at World No. 175 and recently attracted attention with good results at the WTA tournament in Lugano.
After victories over Roberta Vinci and Magdalena Frech in qualifying, von Deichmann also prevailed in Lugano in the first round against Laura Siegemund, who was forced to retrire due to injury with the Liechtenstein native leading 7-6, 2-3. It was von Deichmann’s first main draw match win at WTA Tour level.
Von Deichmann has been able to continuously improve in the WTA ranking in recent years and has a clear goal in mind: “I want to break into the top 100, but I do not put myself under any pressure. First of all I want to get used to the new environment here.”
Von Deichmann will be coached by Matteo Dellagiacoma, who joins the professional coaching team at the TennisBase Oberhaching. She captured her first title of the season as the top seed of the $25,000 ITF Wiesbaden Open last month.
