Austin Krajicek from the United States and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of India were crowned men’s doubles champions of the Fuzion 100 Ilkley Trophy on Saturday afternoon. The pair have only played together for two weeks, however they hit the ground running throughout the €127,000 ATP Challenger trophy.
They defeated the German pairing Kevin Krawietz and Andreas Mies in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. The final lasted 57 minutes.
Sergiy Stakhovsky of Ukraine and Oscar Otte from Germany advanced to the singles final. Stakhovsky edged past US-American Michael Mmoh 6-4, 7-5 and Otte beat Australian Jason Kubler, who struggled midway through the match with an apparent knee injury, 6-0, 7-5 to reach his first title match on grass.
US-Americans take women’s doubles title
US-Americans Asia Muhammad and Maria Sanchez captured the doubles title in the $100,000 ITF Pro Circuit women’s event.
The duo rallied past Natela Dzalamidze from Russia and Galina Voskoboeva of Kazakhstan 4-6, 6-3, 10-1 in one hour and 13 minutes.
In the singles semi-finals, 18-year-old Dayana Yastremska from Ukraine played beyond her age to defeat No. 7 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova of Russia 6-4 6-3.
Yastremska will face Czech qualifier Tereza Smitkova in the final, after she knocked out fellow qualifier Abigail Tere-Apisah from Papua New Guinea 6-2, 6-1.
