Main draw action got underway at the €43,000 Bastad Challenger on Monday. Top seed Guido Andreozzi headlined first round matches, rallying past fellow Argentine Andrea Collarini 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Andreozzi capitalized on four of his eight break point opportunities to prevail after one hour and 55 minutes. The World No. 105 awaits the winner of the encounter between Lukas Rosol from the Czech Republic and Frenchman Johan Tatlot.
Thiago Monteiro advanced to the second round with a 6-4, 7-6(4) victory over Slovakian lucky loser Lukas Klein. The No. 4 seed won 53 per cent of the total points played and finished the encounter after one hour and 50 minutes. Next up for Monteiro will be either Pedro Martínez of Spain or French qualifier Geoffrey Blancaneaux.
#NextGenATP Canadian and tournament’s No. 4, Félix Auger-Aliassime, was forced to retire in his opening match against Constant Lestienne, trailing 4-6, 2-3. The 17-year-old from Montreal slipped on court and suffered from a right ankle injury.
