Two teenagers advance to the semi-finals of the Pekao Szczecin Open. 19-year-old Spanish qualifier Alejandro Davidovich Fokina battled past Gianluigi Quinzi of Italy 7-6(3), 0-6, 6-4 on Friday afternoon.
Davidovich Fokina won 11 points less than his opponent but capitalized on four of his five break point chances to prevail after one hour and 53 minutes. In his first semi-final on the ATP Challenger Tour the World No. 400 will take on Rudolf Molleker. The 17-year-old German eased past Roberto Marcora 6-2, 6-4 in 68 minutes. The pair will meet for the first time at senior’s level. Davidovich Fokina beat the Oranienburg resident in the Round of 64 at the Roland Garros Junior French Open Championships last year.
Guido Andreozzi of Argentina is the last seeded player left in the singles draw. The tournament’s No. 4 overcame Alexey Vatutin 7-5, 1-6, 6-1 in two hours and two minutes to face compatriot Facundo Arguello for a spot in the final in Szczecin.
