Alessandro Giannessi of Italy is the champion of the Srpska Open. The 28-year-old rallied past No. 8 seed Carlos Berlocq of Argentina 6-7(6), 6-4, 6-4 in Sunday’s final of the €85,000 ATP Challenger clay-court event in Banja Luka.
Giannessi saved seven of the 10 break points he faced, converting five of his own to secure victory in three hours and 24 minutes. It was the longest final of the year and just seven minutes shy of the record set in Winnetka 2015. By lifting his second ATP Challenger trophy following his triumph in Szczecin two years ago, Giannessi earns €12,250 in prize money as well as 100 ATP-Ranking points.
On Saturday, Andrej Martin of Slovkia and Hans Podlipnik-Castillo of Chile defeated Laurynas Grigelis from Lithuania and Italian Alessandro Motti 7-5, 4-6, 10-7 to clinch the doubles crown.
