Aljaz Bedene is the champion of the 14th Open d’Orléans. The No. 2 seed from Slovenia, who entered the main draw of the €127,000 ATP Challenger event, rallied past Antoine Hong of France 4-6, 6-1, 7-6(6) in Sunday’s singles final.
Bedene sent down seven aces, winning 75 per cent of his first service points to prevail after two hours and 34 minutes.
By lifting his first trophy of the season, Bedene takes away €18,290 in prize money as well as 125 ATP-Ranking points.
Earlier in the day, Luke Bambridge and Jonny O’Mara clinched the doubles title. The British duo defeated Yannick Maden of Germany and Austria’s Tristan-Samuel Weissborn 6-2, 6-4. The final lasted 57 minutes.
