Hubert Hurkacz of Poland claimed his second title of the season, winning the Open Brest Crédit Agricole. The No. 4 seed of the €106,000 ATP Challenger event defeated Ricardas Berankis of Lithuania 7-5, 6-1 in Sunday’s singles final.
Hurkacz sent down seven aces and broke his opponent’s serve four times to seal victory in one hour and 10 minutes. The 21-year-old Wroclaw native secured his first win over Berankis in the pair’s second meeting. Following his maiden triumph on home soil at the Poznan Open, Hurkacz lifted his second ATP Challenger trophy of the season. He collects €15,270 in prize money as well as 110 ATP-Ranking points.
In form-Belgian duo Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen captured their sixth ATP Challenger team title in 2018. The tandem upset the tournament’s top seeds Leander Paes of India and Miguel Angel Reyes-Varela of Mexico 3-6, 6-4, 10-2. The final lasted one hour and 22 minutes.
