With Peter Heller of Germany and Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp two unseeded players will compete in Sunday’s singles final of the MLP Cup held at the Racket Center in Nußloch.
Heller battled past No. 7 seed Tim van Rijthoven from the Netherlands 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(5). The 26-year-old Bavarian withstood 15 aces, breaking his opponent’s serve three times to seal victory in one hour and 56 minutes.
Following his six ITF Pro Circuit triumphs last year, Heller is bidding for his first title on the newly established ITF World Tennis Tour.
Earlier on Saturday, van de Zandschulp eased past Alexander Erler from Austria 6-3, 6-3. The 23-year-old didn’t face a break point, converting three of his four own chances to advance in only 53 minutes. Van de Zandschulp is seeking his fourth ITF singles career title, his first since 2016. He will meet Heller for the first time.
Karol Drzewicki and Szymon Walkow took the doubles title. The all-Polish-duo defeatedMarek Gengel from the Czech Republic andDanylo Kalenichenko from the Ukraine 7-5, 6-3. The final lasted one hour and 10 minutes.
