HAMBURG, March 22, 2019
39-year-old German TV-host Matthias Killing will remain the stadium announcer at the Hamburg Open, which will be organized by the Reichel Business Group for the first time this season. The ATP 500 clay-court event will be held from 20 to 28 July 2019.
“The tournament plays an important role in my life. Here I was allowed to perform as a completely unknown, young presenter the first time. Now I have been standing here on the ‘Center Court of the World’ for 13 years. This tournament is more than a job for me – it’s passion,” Killing stated in a press release.
Killing will be joined this year by Eurosport TV-host Barbara Schett. The former World No. 7 from Austria will conduct the post-match on-court interviews with the players. Schett has been a tournament ambassador for 14 years at the WTA event in Linz, which is also organized by Sandra Reichel.
About the Rothenbaum tournament, the 43-year-old said: “Now organized by the Reichel family many things will be new and modernized. The tournament was one of the most important stops on the ATP Tour, and for sure it will get back to this significance. I’m just looking forward to being part of the revitalized Hamburg Open.”
