Alexander Bublik is the champion of the Abierto GNP Seguros in Monterrey. The 21-year-old from Kazakhstan beat Emilio Gomez of Ecuador in Sunday’s singles final of the $162,480 ATP Challenger hard-court event, 6-3, 6-2.
Bublik was in total control of the encounter, firing 16 aces, saved both break points he faced and capitalized on three of his own four chances to secure victory in only 54 minutes.

“Thanks for this final, Emilio is a great rival,” Bublik said. “I was a bit nervous at the beginning but I managed to feel comfortable and enjoy the match.
“I hope we can meet in more finals, but above all, thanks to the crowd for this unique week and for supporting me during this important match.”
The No. 7 seed takes away $21,600 in prize money as well as 125 ATP-Ranking points. Bublik extended his perfect run in ATP Challenger finals to 6-0. He also lifted the trophies in Budapest and Pau in the last two months.
Earlier in the day, Evan King and Nathan Pasha clinched the doubles title. The unseeded US-Americans upset the tournament’s No. 1 team Santiago Gonzalez of Mexico and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi from Pakistan 7-5, 6-2. The final lasted one hour and eight minutes.
