Soon-woo Kwon Triumphs On Home Soil In Seoul

SEOUL, May 6, 2019

Soon-woo Kwon triumphed on home soil, winning the $108,320 Vitro Seoul Open Challenger, held at the Olympic Tennis Courts in the capital city and largest metropolis of South Korea. The No. 11 seed defeated Max Purcell of Australia in Sunday’s singles final 7-5, 7-5.

Kwon capitalized on five of his nine break point opportunities to prevail after one hour and 37 minutes. The 21-year-old Seoul resident advanced to the title match with wins over Shintaro Imai of Japan, Evegeny Donskoy from Russia, Yasutaka Uchiyama of Japan and Tung-Lin Wu from Taipei.

By lifting his second ATP Challenger trophy following his maiden victory in Yokohama earlier this season, Kwon collected $14,400 in prize money as well as 100 ATP-Ranking points.
