Kamil Majchrzak of Poland is the champion of the 2019 Prosperita Open held on clay courts at the SC Ostrava. The No. 4 seed of the €46,600 ATP Challenger event eased past Italian teenager Jannik Sinner, winning 6-1, 6-0 in Sunday’s singles final.
Majchrzak saved three of the four break points he faced, converting six of his 13 own chances to seal victory in 62 minutes.
The 23-year-old right-hander advanced to the final with wins over Riccardio Bonadio of Italy, Zsombor Piros from Hungary, No. 5 seeded Austrian Denis Novak and top favourite Lloyd Harris of South Africa to lift his second ATP Challenger trophy. Majchrzak celebrated his maiden triumph in St. Brieuc, France, earlier in the season. He takes away €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP-Ranking points.
Sinner in appeared his second ATP Challenger final. The 17-year-old from South Tyrol won on home soil in Bergamo and leaves the Czech Republic with €3,650 and 48 ATP-Ranking points.
On Saturday, Luca Margaroli from Switzerland and Filip Polasek of Slovakia took the doubles crown. The No. 2 seeds fought past the all-Dutch combination of Thiemo de Bakker and Tallon Griekspoor, winning 6-4, 2-6, 10-8. The final lasted one hour and eight minutes.
