NÜRNBERG, May 17, 2019
The 2019 edition of the Nürnberger Versicherungscup will kick off on Saturday with the qualifying highlighted by former French Open finalist Sara Errani of Italy, who will play Raluka Serban from Cyprus.
Top seed will be World No. 211 Jana Cepelova of Slovakia, who will take on Olga Doroshina from Russia. Wild cards have been awarded to Stephanie Wagner and Jule Niemeier of Germany, as well as Austrian Mira Antonitsch and Emma Navarro from the United States.
Meanwhile, Julia Görges had to pull out of the WTA International event, as the German suffered from a thigh injury in her second round match in Rome against Mihaela Buzarnescu.
“We wish Jule a good and quick recovery as well as all the best for the rest of the year,” said tournament director Sandra Reichel.
