Stefano Travaglia is the champion of the BNP Paribas Sopot Open. The top seed of the €92,080 ATP Challenger clay-court event fought past Filip Horansky of Slovakia in Sunday’s singles, winning 6-4, 2-6, 6-2.
Travaglia, who advanced to the title match with win over Daniel Michalski from Poland, Gastao Elias from Portugal, Mohamed Safwat of Egypt and Frenchman Tristan Lamasine, converted three of his nine break point chances and won 53 per cent of the total point played prevailed after one hour and 54 minutes.

The 27-year-old from Italy clinches his fourth ATP Challenger career crown, his second of the season following his triumph on home soil in Francavilla. Travaglia took away from Poland €12,600 in prize money as well as 100 ATP Ranking points.
Begemann/Mergea win doubles title
Earlier in the day, Andre Begemann from Germany and Florin Mergea of Romania won the doubles trophies. The unseeded duo defeated Polish wild card entries Karol Drzewiecki and Mateusz Kowalczyk 6-1, 3-6, 10-8. The final lasted 67 minutes.
“We knew it’s going to be a battle but the crowd was amazing. In the end we were a bit more lucky but we are happy to be through,” Begemann said.”
“I was injured and returned to the courts about two weeks ago. To reach our first final together and to win it is a special feeling,” Mergea added.
