The two top-seeds will go head to head in Saturday’s final of the US-$ 50,000 KPIT-MSLTA ATP Challenger in Pune.
The tournament’s number one and local favourite Yuki Bhambri defeated fourth seed James Ward in the stage of the final four, winning 7-6, 6-3. The world number 105 from India withstood 15 aces from his opponent, hitting six of his own to prevail in one hour and 24 minutes.
Second seed Evgeny Donskoy emerged victorious from the all-Russian-affair, winning 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 against Alexander Kudryavtsev. The world number 100 from Moscow won 71% of his first service points and converted four of his 13 break point chances to close the match after one hour and 43 minutes.
Spanish tandem of Gerard Granollers and Adrian Menendez-Maceiras claimed the doubles title, rallying back 1-6, 6-3, 10-6 against Maximilian Neuchrist and Divij Sharan in 65 minutes.
