Zverev Recovers Well From Eye Surgery

Alexander Zverev

STARNBERG, December 8, 2019

Alexander Zverev has made it through surgery in New York to correct astigmatism in his eyes. “Everything went very well, I am feeling very good about it. Everything went according to plan,” the 22-year-old German said in a video message on Saturday on Instagram.

“I am on recovery mode right now. This is a message to all of you guys not to worry. I am totally fine. I am doing well and I will start practicing very soon. I hope to see you all in Australia!”

Astigmatism is a common imperfection in eyes curvature, which usually causes vision to be blurred or distorted to some degree at all distances. Zverev revealed plans to have an eye surgery during the Nitto ATP Finals after his loss to Dominic Thiem in the semi-finals.

“I’ll only have a few days’ holidays, and then I’m actually going to go to New York to maybe do a small procedure that I have to do on my eyes. I’ve had problems with my eyes and have had many problems with contact lenses this year,” the World No. 7 said in London last month.
