Top seed Ekaterina Alexandrova has clinched her third Open BLS de Limoges title by winning Sunday’s singles final against Aliaksandra Sasnovich of Belarus 6-1, 6-3.
The 25-year-old wild card entry from Russia beat Frenchwoman Oceana Dodin, Ana Bogdan of Romania and US-American qualifier Nicole Gibbs en route to the title match. Alexandrova sent down seven aces in the championship match and won 81 per cent of her first-service points to secure victory in only 56 minutes.
Alexandrova improved her head-to-head record against Sasnovich to 2-0, having claimed their only prior meeting in the qualifying rounds of St. Petersburg two years ago. The World No. 42 took away from France €16,129 in prize money as well as 160 WTA Ranking points.
