The 2019 Hawaii Open Tennis Tournament, presented by Ward Village and Hawaii Tourism is a wrap. In Saturday’s men’s final, Sam Querrey defeated fellow US-American Brandon Nakashima. The energetic match went into a three-set tiebreak with Querrey capturing the Hawaii Open Championship title.

During the trophy presentation, Querrey commented on the event saying how the Hawaii Open felt like an ATP/WTA event and not an exhibition based on the very high level of play and incredible crowd support. The fans showed the new champion their love and gave rising star Nakashima a standing ovation as well for his great performance.

Earlier in the day, Angelique Kerber withdrew due to an injury she sustained during her warm-up for the match. This resulted in the tournament adding a mixed doubles match, which went all the way to a three-set tiebreak with Querrey and Yanina Wickmayer defeating Christian Harrison and Danielle Collins.
