GSTAAD, January 16, 2020
Organizers of the Swiss Open Gstaad announced Thursday that Dominic Thiem will return to the ATP 250 tournament with one of the most spectacular backdrops, situated in the Bernese Oberland in south-western Switzerland, near the border with France.
The World No. 5 from Austria clinched the title here five years ago when Thiem defeated top seed David Goffin from Belgium in the singles final in straight sets.
“Hello Gstaad! Greetings from Australia. I am excited to be back in Gstaad in 2020. I have incredible memories of the tournament 2015 when I could win one of my first ATP titles in the wonderful atmosphere of the Alps – like in Austria. I can’t wait to be back,” Thiem said in a video message from Melbourne.
The Swiss Open Gstaad will be held from July 20 to 26, 2020. For tickets, please visit the tournament’s official homepage.
