CINCINNATI, February 11, 2020 (Press Release)
Tickets to all sessions of the 2020 Western & Southern Open will go on sale at 9 am Tuesday, February 11.
The men’s ATP and women’s WTA tours will make their annual stop at the Lindner Family Tennis Center August 15-23 for this year’s Western & Southern Open. The event is one of only five in the world featuring an ATP Masters 1000 and WTA Premier event in the same week at a single venue, joining Indian Wells, Calif., Madrid, Miami and Rome.
In 2019, the Western & Southern Open drew 198,044 spectators, the second-highest attendance in the event’s history. A record 15 of the tournament’s 16 sessions were sold out.
In addition to more than 200 matches throughout the week, the Western & Southern Open features 14 restaurants, six signature bar areas, more than 20 live musical performances, daily celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, an interactive family zone and more than a dozen shopping opportunities on its more than 22-acre facility.
There are 17 total courts on the grounds, with as many as eight hosting match action. At least nine are used for practice sessions, which allows fans to get up close and personal and provides opportunities to seek coveted autographs and selfies with the tennis stars.
Aspiring players have the chance to get on the court with pro players during Kids Day and High School Day during the tournament’s opening weekend.
As an ATP Masters 1000, the Western & Southern Open is mandatory for the top men in the ATP Rankings. On the women’s side, as a WTA Premier 5, at least seven of the Top 10 WTA players will be expected in the field. Roger Federer owns a record seven W&S Open titles while two-time champion Serena Williams has the most women’s titles among active players.
Last year’s tournament crowned Madison Keys and Daniil Medvedev as singles champions while Lucie Hradecka & Andreja Klepac and Ivan Dodig & Filip Polasek won the doubles titles.
