Full Line-Up Confirmed For Davis Cup Finals 2020

The full line-up for the Davis Cup by Rakuten Madrid Finals 2020 has been confirmed after 12 nations scored victories in the Davis Cup by Rakuten Qualifiers on 6-7 March. The winning nations: Australia, Austria, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Kazakhstan, Sweden and USA join defending champions Spain, Canada, Great Britain, Russia, France and Serbia for the week-long season finale in Madrid on 23-29 November.

The biggest home-and-away weekend in Davis Cup history also featured the first set of ties played under the new expanded global format for the competition with 11 World Group I Play-offs and 12 World Group II Play-offs taking place around the world.

The losing nations from the Davis Cup Qualifiers: Argentina, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, India, Japan, Korea Republic, Netherlands, Slovakia, Uruguay and Uzbekistan will now contest World Group I ties in September alongside the winning nations from the World Group I Play-offs: Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Israel, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Romania, Ukraine and Pakistan/Slovenia. Play has been suspended in the World Group I Play-off between Pakistan and Slovenia due to bad weather, with play scheduled to resume on 8 March.

The losing nations from the World Group I Play-offs: Barbados, China, P.R., Chinese Taipei, Dominican Republic, Lithuania, Mexico, South Africa, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Venezuela and Pakistan/Slovenia will now contest World Group II ties in September alongside the winning nations from the World Group II Play-offs: Bulgaria, Denmark, El Salvador, Estonia, Greece, Indonesia, Latvia, Morocco, Paraguay, Poland, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.

The losing nations from the World Group II Play-offs: Costa Rica, Egypt, Georgia, Guatemala, Hong Kong China, Jamaica, Kenya, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka, Syria and Vietnam will play in their respective regional Group III events later this year, with dates and venues to be confirmed in due course.

The draw for the 2020 Davis Cup Finals will be held on Thursday 12 March at the ITF offices in London at 16:00 GMT and will be livestreamed on DavisCup.com and DavisCupFinals.com. The 18 nations will be drawn into six groups of three teams. Spain and Canada, as 2019 finalists, will be seeded No. 1 and No. 2 respectively, with seeds 3-6 determined by the Davis Cup Nations Ranking that will be published on Monday 9 March.

The draws for World Group I and World Group II will be made on Friday 13 March and will also be livestreamed from the ITF offices on DavisCup.com. Each draw will consist of 12 ties, with the 12 seeded nations based on the Davis Cup Nations Ranking of Monday 9 March.
