Basic And Sijsling Will Clash In Brescia’s Final

BRESCIA, November 20, 2015

Mirza Basic and Igor Sijsling will compete in Saturday’s final of the € 42,500 ATP Challenger Trofeo Città di Brescia.

Basic ousted eighth seed Dustin Brown, winning 6-4, 7-6. The world number 147 from Bosnia-Herzegovina withstood 13 aces from the German, hitting nine on his own. Basic saved all three break points he faced and broke his opponent’s service one time to seal victory in one hour and 12 minutes, reaching his third Challenger final of the season. Basic  finished runner-up in Wroclaw and claimed his maiden title in Recanati.

Sijsling overcame Luca Vanni in an encounter without any service losses, winning two tie-breaks. The 28-year-old Dutchman smashed 11 aces and won 72% of his second service points to advance after one hour and 37 minutes. Sijsling will play his third Challenger final in 2015 in order to lift his first trophy this season. Basic and Sijsling will meet for the first time on the tour.
