SAO PAULO, November 24, 2015
The draw for the ATP Challenger Tour Finals has been made in Sao Paulo on Tuesday. Guilherme Clezar, who received a wild card, attended the ceremony alongside the tournament’s officials and ATP Challenger Supervisor Ed Hardisty.
Group A: Paolo Lorenzi, Daniel Munoz de la Nava, Inigo Cervantes, Farrukh Dustov
Group B: Guido Pella, Marco Cecchinato, Radu Albot, Guilherme Clezar
“All players are very strong, the level is very similar in both groups,” told Clezar. “I love to play here in Sao Paulo. Last year I did a good job and I hope that I will be able to repeat it this year,” added the 22-year-old Brazilian, who reached the final in 2014 losing to Diego Schwartzman. Clezar will open his campaign against Cecchinato in the pair’s second tour meeting. The world number 186 from Porto Alegre is in the search of his first victory against the Italian. “I have nothing to lose. It’s just important to me playing at a decent level and to finish the season in a good way. The ranking is only important next year,” Clezar said and wants to defend his ranking points.
The tournament is played in round-robin format with the eight players divided into two groups of four. Matches are taking place from Wednesday to Friday. From there, the two players with the best records in each group progress to the semifinals on Saturday, with the winners meeting in the final to determine the champion on Sunday. The total prize money is US-$ 220,000.
