KITZBÜHEL, August 1, 2020

Following the announcement by the USTA to continue its plans to stage the US Open, the date for the Generali Open in Kitzbühel was confirmed on Saturday. The tournament will be held on the clay courts of the Kitzbühel Tennis Club from September 7 to 13, which will make it the first ATP Tour event on European soil after the re-start of the international tennis circuit.

“We are happy that we have found a spot on the calendar in these challenging times and that we can kick off this year’s clay-court season. Madrid, Rome and the French Open will be played after us,” tournament director Alexander Antonitsch explained in a press release.

Antonisch expects a strong field of players despite the schedule conflict: “In addition to extra late sign-in deadlines, the ATP grants us two additional wild cards. I am sure that some attractive players will come to Kitzbühel in order to get ready for the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in Madrid, which will be held at similar altitude immediately afterwards.”

Ticket sales start Monday

Tickets sales for the 76th edition of the Generali Open starts on Monday. For more information, please visit the tournament’s official website.

“We had a complete test run, which is good for us. The strict requirements we had at the THIEMs7 tennis exhibition will be maintained. There will also be no reserved seats at the Generali Open, but only reserved seats,”  tournament manager Florian Zinnagl said.
