Following his maiden triumph on the ATP Challenger Tour last Sunday at the Citta di Trieste, Spanish teen sensation Carlos Alcaraz has advanced to another title match in Italy. Alcaraz defeated Daniel Altmaier of Germany 6-1, 7-6(6) in Saturday’s semi-final to reach the championship match of the €88,520 Challenger Acqua Dolomia Serena Wines Tennis Cup Internazionali del Friul Venezia Giulia held at the Eurosporting complex in Cordenons.

The 17-year-old from Murcia beat Juan Pablo Ficovich of Argentina, Frenchman Benjamin Bonzi and fourth seeded Argentine Facundo Bagnis en route to the stage of the final four. Alcaraz broke Altmaier’s serve four times to secure victory in one hour and 25 minutes. It has marked his 11th match win in a row.

The Next-Gen-star, coached by former World No. 1 Juan Carlos Ferrero, will take on compatriot Bernabe Zapata Miralles for the title in Cordenons on Sunday. The 23-year-old from Valencia cruised past Alejandro Tabilo of Chile 6-1, 6-0 in only 42 minutes.

Alcaraz and Zapata Miralles will meet for the first time. After eight title wins on the ITF World Tennis Tour, Zapata Miralles is bidding for his maiden crown at Challenger level.
