SOFIA, December 22, 2015
The deadline for participation requests into the first edition of the Garanti Koza Sofia Open, taking place between the 1st and the 7th February 2016, has passed last Monday.
According to the tournament’s media director Lubomir Todorov, players who have won 26 single titles will play in Bulgaria. Highest ranked is Viktor Troicki from Serbia, currently №22 in ATP’s ranking. He won the tournament in Sydney earlier this year.
Another three players from ATP’s top 30 will play in “Arena Armeec”. These are Spaniards Roberto Bautista-Agut, currently №25 in ATP’s ranking and Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, №27, who captured the title at the last edition of the Zagreb Indoors in February, as well as Andreas Seppi from Italy, №29. Philipp Kohlschreiber, Gilles Muller, Jiri Vesely and Martin Klizan complete the top-eight-entrants.
“I am happy to announce that a lot of exciting players will take part in the first ATP World Tour tournament in Sofia,” says Erhan Oral, tournament director of Garanti Koza Sofia Open and added. “We made an offer to Grigor Dimitrov to participate but he did not enter to the tournament within the ATP deadline.”
