Argentine qualifier Thiago Agustin Tirante has reached his first final on the ATP Challenger Tour and is riding on a five-match winning streak in Peru. The 19-year-old emerged victorious from the battle of the qualifiers with Vitaliy Sachko from the Ukraine, 6-2, 6-4 in Saturday’s semi-finals at the $52,080 Lima Challenger held at the Centro Promotor de Tenis Miraflores.

Tirante, who clinched the 2019 French Open Boys’ Doubles title alongside Brazilian Matheus Pucinelli de Almeida, saved all seven break points he faced and capitalized on three of his own nine break-point chances to advance in one hour and 43 minutes.

The teenager from La Plata will next take on No. 7 seed Daniel Elahi Galan of Colombia. The World No. 129 fought past Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera of Chile 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-4. Elahi Galan sent down seven aces and won 71 per cent of his first-service points to prevail after two hours and 45 minutes.

Elahi Galan is seeking his second title on the ATP Challenger Tour following his maiden triumph at San Benedetto, Italy two years ago. The 24-year-old from Bogota and Tirante will meet for the first time.

In other action, Inigo Cervantes and Oriol Roca Batalla clinched their second Challenger team title.
