World No. 287 Qinwen Zheng of China is the champion of the Tennis Future Hamburg. The 18-year-old defeated 15-year-old Linda Fruhvirtova from the Czech Republic 6-2, 6-3 in Sunday’s singles final of the ITF World Tennis Tour W25 event held at the venue of the Hamburger Tennis-Verband.
Zheng, who battled through the qualifying, converted eight of her 15 break-point opportunities to secure victory in one hour and 19 minutes.

“A very nice and exciting week in Hamburg comes to an end with the title. I had a lot of tough matches during the tournament and I am very happy to have won all of them. Linda demanded everything from me today. She is a very talented player and I am sure she will have a great career,” said Zheng, who achieved a career-high of World No. 6 in the ITF Juniors Ranking in September 2019. By lifting her fifth career trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, the teenager took away from Germany €3,542 in prize money as well as 50 WTA Ranking points.
“We look back on a very successful tournament week with great tennis. There were many young, talented players in the field. From the German Tennis Federation’s view, we are particularly pleased that Noma Noha Akugue made it to the semi-finals,” tournament director Mirco Westphal said.
