M15 Bressuire FRA – Holger Rune captures his first title of the season

Danish tennis hope Holger Rune triumphed at the 21st edition of the Internationaux de Bressuire, hosted by the Tennis Club Bressuire.

The World No. 1 in the Junior’s Ranking, who clinched the trophy of the Roland Garros Junior Championships 2019, battled past Zizou Bergs from Belgium in the semi-finals in two sets.

Frenchman Matteo Martineau stopped the run of the Dutch qualifier Gijs Brouwer in the stage of the final four in straight sets.

Seventeen-year-old Rune outpointed his rival in the title match 106-94 to claim a 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 victory after two hours and 32 minutes. Following his three title wins last season, the Copenhagen native celebrated his fourth career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.

M15 Cairo EGY – Franco Agamenone ends his title drought

Franco Agamenone is the champion of the Egypt Men’s Future, held at Al-Solaimaneyah Center in Cairo.

The qualifier made the last step to the final by defeating No. 4 seeded Facundo Diaz Acosta from Argentina in three sets.

Romanian No. 3 seed Filip Cristian Jianu, who was ranked ITF No. 5 as a junior, eased past Juan Pablo Paz from Argentina in the semi-finals in straight sets.

Argentina-born Agamenone, who has represented Italy since 2020, saved 14 break points and converted four of his own six break-point-chances in the championship match to prevail 7-6, 6-4 after two hours and 19 minutes. The 27-year-old lifted his fifth singles trophy on the ITF World Tennis Tour, his first since 2016.

M15 Antalya TUR – Givoanni Fonio with unexpected victory

The Artengo Open Series 2, hosted by the Club Megasaray in Belek, concluded with the surprising title win of Giovanni Fonio.

The Italian qualifier battled through the bottom half of the draw, beating Nuno Borges from Portugal in the semi-finals in two sets.

Argentinian No. 5 seed Juan Manuel Cerundolo, who knocked off the tournament’s top favourite Rudolf Molleker from Germany in the stage of the last eight, advanced to the final with a straight-set win against Raul Brancaccio from Italy.

In the title match, 22-year-old Fonio received a walkover from his opponent. Following his maiden title win at the same place one year ago, the Novara native celebrated his second career title on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
