BAD HOMBURG, April 16, 2021
Petra Kvitova will play at the inaugural Bad Homburg Open presented by Engel & Völkers held at the Bad Homburger Kurpark on June 20 to 26, 2021. This was announced by the organizers of the WTA 250 tournament earlier this week. The venue, situated in one of the wealthiest towns in Germany on the southern slope of the Taunus mountains, is rich in tradition. First tennis matches took place back in 1876. The 2021 grass-court event will offer a total prize money of $235,238.
With the participation of the World No. 10 from the Czech Republic, tennis fans in Germany can look forward to one of the most successful grass-court players in recent years. The 31-year-old was crowned champion at Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014. So she is also one of the top favorites for the title at the WTA 250 event in Bad Homburg.

“I am very happy to compete in the first edition of the Bad Homburg Open,” said Kvitova. The left-hander also reveals that it is always exciting “to play at a new tournament and especially when it is a grass-court tournament with such a long-standing story.”
Tournament director Aljoscha Thron added: “With Petra Kvitova we were able to win one of the most popular and successful players of the last few years on the WTA Tour for our tournament,”
Kvitova will be joined by local German stars Angelique Kerber and Andrea Petkovic.
