Alexander Zverev will pursue home glory this week at the BMW Open in Munich, where he is already a two-time champion. The home favourite, who lifted the trophy in 2017 and 2018, owns a 13-4 record at this ATP 250. The International Bavarian Championships is the first of four German tournaments on the season’s ATP Tour calendar, contested at the venue of the MTTC Iphitos.

All eyes will be on third seed Aslan Karatsev of Russia, this year’s surprise Australian Open semi-finalist, who defeated World No. 1 Novak Djokovic on Saturday in the Belgrade semi-finals. The second seed is Norwegian young gun Casper Ruud, who recently showed his clay-court prowess by making the last four in Monte-Carlo.

Other players to watch include #NextGenATP US-American Sebastian Korda, Singapore champion Alexei Popyrin of Australia and rising Finnish star Emil Ruusuvuori.

Shapovalov leads the field in Estoril

Kei Nishikori is one of the standouts in a loaded field at the Millennium Estoril Open, an ATP 250 event in Portugal. The Japanese star is the fourth seed and he is making his tournament debut.

The top seed is Denis Shapovalov, who is pursuing his second ATP Tour title. The Canadian will be joined by second seed Cristian Garin of Chile, a five-time tour-level champion on clay, and third seeded Frenchman Ugo Humbert.

Other stars competing in Estoril include former World No. 3 Marin Cilic, two-time Grand Slam finalist Kevin Anderson of South Africa, 2015 titlist Richard Gasquet from France and home favourite Joao Sousa.
