HALLE/WESTPHALIA, May 31, 2021
Philipp Kohlschreiber received a wild card into the main draw of the 28th edition of the NOVENTI Open in Halle, Westphalia, Germany. This was announced by the organizers of the ATP 500 grass-court event, which will be held from June 12 to 20.
The 37-year-old German will make his 16th appearance in Halle. Kohlschreiber, currently ranked World No. 132, clinched the title here in 2011, winning the final against compatriot Philipp Petzschner, and finished runner-up to Roger Federer in 2008.
“Traditionally, the tournament is one of my favorites on the calendar,” said Kohlschreiber and added: “Halle is a real ‘oasis of wellbeing’ for me.”
Swiss teenager Dominic Stricker was awarded a wild card into the qualifying. The 18-year-old lefty captured his maiden ATP Challenger crown on home soil in Lugano in March. Stricker will join German youngster Rudolf Molleker in the qualifying draw.
According to the health and safety protocol of the region, up to 500 spectators will be allowed to attend the matches each day. Spectators need to show a negative Covid-19 test certificate.
