There is no time to rest for the players on the ATP Tour. Right after Roland Garros, the grass-court season is already in full swing with the 28th edition of the NOVENTI OPEN held at the OWL Arena from June 12 to 20.
Swiss maestro Roger Federer, who has a unique, lifetime contract with the ATP 500 tournament, arrived relaxed, easy-going and in a good mood in Halle on Thursday. On the terrace of the COURT HOTEL, tournament director Ralf Weber, together with his wife Irina and son Darek, welcomed the 10-time winner with best wishes for the upcoming event.
“Now is the most important time for me. I want to show my best tennis on grass and play successfully,” said Federer. “It’s just great to be here again, I’m very happy to have returned to Halle. I feel good and I will be able to prepare myself very well for the grass-court swing here.”
Weber was also delighted to have the tennis star as a guest: “I am sure that Roger will play a decisive role in the fight for the title again. Because for him, Halle is simply an ‘oasis of wellbeing’. A place where he could always call up all his skills and we wish him every success in defending his title.”

After a year hiatus due to the coronavirus crisis, the NOVENTI OPEN is back on the calendar. Federer is the defending champion after lifting his 10th Halle trophy with a straight-set win over David Goffin in the 2019 final.
Earlier in the week, it was announced that Frenchman Gael Monfils will join local favourites Philipp Kohlschreiber and Daniel Altmaier as wild card entry into the main draw. French Open semi-finalist and World No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas of Greece received a so-called A+ wild card.
