The three top-seeds at the €85,000 Wroclaw Open headlined Tuesday’s first round action at Hala Orbita.
The tournament’s number one Evgeny Donskoy opened his title bid with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Polish wild card Kamil Majchrzak. The world number 82 and lone top 100-player in Wroclaw won 79% of his first service points and capitalized on three of his seven break point chances to prevail in one hour and 13 minutes. Donskoy will face Aleksandr Nedovyesov next. The 29-year-old Ukrainian defeated with Pawel Cias another local player, winning 6-1, 6-3 in only 54 minutes.

Third Polish wild card Lukasz Kubot advanced to the second round, winning 7-6, 6-4 against Hiroki Moriya. The 33-year-old, who is playing his first singles competition since the qualifying in Sydney in January, won 89% of his first service points and converted two of his three break point opportunities to seal victory in one hour and 31 minutes. Kubot faces the tournament’s number seven Konstantin Kravchuk next.
Second seed Dustin Brown cruised past Adam Pavlasek, winning 6-4, 7-5. The world number 106 from Germany withstood 14 aces, hitting 7 of his own. Brown saved the only break point he faced and broke his opponent’s service two times to finish the encounter after only 52 minutes. to face Andrey Golubev next, who ousted Andrea Arnaboldi 7-6, 6-7, 6-4.

Qualifier Jan Hernych knocked-off third favourite Jan-Lennard Struff, who appeared in his first ATP Challenger event of the season. The 36-year-old Czech withstood 13 aces, hitting nine of his own and won 53% of the total points to seal a 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 victory in one hour and 57 minutes. Hernych will take on Gregoire Barrere next, who overcame Serbian qualifier Marko Tepavac 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 in one hour and 43 minutes.
Albano Olivetti made a winning return to the ATP Challenger Tour, when he defeated Ukrainian qualifier Denys Molchanov 6-2, 7-6. The 24-year-old Frenchman, who dropped to number 1344 in the rankings due to injury and missed the entire 2015 season, is playing his first Challenger event since May 2014 in Bordeaux. Olivetti closed the match in one hour and 29 minutes to set a second round meeting with Czech qualifier Zdenek Kolar, who knocked out sixth seed Michael Berrer 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 in one hour and 52 minutes.
