Three US-Americans advanced to the semi-finals of the Atlantic Tire Championships being held at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.
No. 2 seed Denis Kudla ousted fellow US-American Michael Mmoh 7-6(3), 6-3. Kudla will next face defending champion Mitchell Krueger who booked his spot in the stage of the final eight of the $52,080 ATP Challenger Tour hard-court tournament by beating Australian Max Purcell 6-3, 6-2. Bjorn Fratangelo is the third player from the United States in the semi-finals with a win over Great Britain’s Ryan Peniston 6-3, 7-5.
Joining the US-Americans is Australian Aleksandar Vukic. After dropping the first set, Vukic rallied with a victory over local favourite Zachary Svajda 3-6, 6-2, 6-3. Vukic will take on Fratangelo in the second semi-final.
In doubles, both semi-finals were decided in a match tie-break. William Blumberg and Max Schnur from the United States will face US-American Stefan Kozlov and Canadian Peter Polansky. Doubles final starts the day at 2:00 pm (local time).
