Two Russian teenagers headlined Wednesday’s second round matches at the €42,500 Open BNP Paribas Banque De Bretagne held in Quimper.

18-year-old Andrey Rublev defeated seventh months older Karen Khachanov 7-6, 7-5. Rublev withstood 16 aces from the eighth seed, hitting 10 of his own and secured the decisive break in the 12th game of the second set to finish the encounter with a forehand cross court winner after one hour and 37 minutes. Rublev, who had to battle through the qualifying will take on Lukas Lacko next. The fourth seed from Slovakia benefited from the retirmement of Calvin Hermery leading 6-2 after 28 minutes.

Third seed Jan-Lennard Struff fell to fellow German Tobias Kamke 3-6, 5-7 in the pair’s first tour meeting. The qualifier lost his service only once and converted three of his five break point chances to prevail in one hour and 33 minutes.

Two further seed lost in the remaining first round matches, as Farrukh Dustov knocked out the tournament’s number seven Kenny De Schepper 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 in one hour and 51 minutes and French qualifier Romain Jouan cruised past sixth seed Adam Pavlasek, winning 6-4, 6-3 in only 58 minutes.
