Fifth seed Malek Jaziri takes the title of the $100,000 Jalisco Open presentado por Aeromexico. The 32-year-old from Tunisia rallied back in Sunday’s final against Stephane Robert to celebrate a 5-7, 6-3, 7-6 victory.
Jaziri fired 13 aces and capitalized on five of his 11 break point chances to finish the encounter after two hours and one minute. This week marked a brilliant turn in form from Jaziri, who hadn’t won two consecutive matches at a tournament this year prior to arriving in Guadalajara. The victory this week marks the fourth ATP Challenger Tour title of Jaziri’s career, getting him $14,400 in prize money as well as 100 ATP ranking points.
German duo Gero Kretschmer and Alexander Satschko captured the doubles tite, winning 6-3, 4-6, 10-2 against the tournament’s top-seeds Santiago Gonzalez and Mate Pavic in 72 minutes.
