Briton Paul Jubb has capped a brilliant week in South America and clinched his maiden title on the ATP Challenger Tour. The 22-year-old Englishman lifted the trophy of the Dove Men & Care Challenger Bolivia 2 hosted by the Club de Tenis Santa Cruz.
Jubb defeated Juan Pablo Varillas from Peru, No. 3 seed of the $53,120 clay-court event 6-3, 7-6(5) in Sunday’s singles final. The World No. 296, who didn’t drop a set all week, won 73 per cent of his first-service points and capitalized on two of his four break-point chances to seal victory in one hour and 38 minutes.

Jubb played college tennis in the United States and won the singles title at the 2019 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Championship as a member of the South Carolina Gamecocks but has already made a name of his himself on the Pro Circuit by claiming seven titles on the ITF World Tennis Tour.
The York native earned $7,200 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points. Jubb is projected to rise to 228th in the ATP Rankings and 117th in the ATP Race.
The British youngster will try to continue his fine run of form in Colombia competing in the ATP Challenger 80 tournament in Pereira this week. Jubb has a special exempt and will play local wild card entry Mateo Gomez in the first round.
