German wild card entry Henri Squire delighted his home crowd by reaching his first quarterfinal on the ATP Challenger Tour at the Saturn Oil Open. The 21-year-old Duisburg native defeated Thomas Fabbiano of Italy 6-4, 6-3 in Thursday’s second-round match in Troisdorf, Germany.

In other action, Lukas Klein benefited from the retirement of Nicola Kuhn from Germany. The Slovakian qualifier was leading 6-3, 4-1 when Kuhn was forced to stop playing due to a right achilles tendon. Klein will next play fourth-seeded Frenchman Hugo Grenier, the highest seed left in the top half of the draw. Grenier edged out qualifier Aldin Setkic from Bosnia and Herzegovina 7-6(7), 6-3. The encounter lasted two hours and 20 minutes.
