Bergs To Face Klein For Saturn Oil Open Title

Belgian Zizou Bergs and Slovakian qualifier Lukas Klein will play in Sunday’s championship match of the inaugural Saturn Oil Open. Bergs emerged victorious from a topsy-turvy encounter with Roman Safiullin of Russia, No. 3 seed of the €45,730 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event in Troisdorf, winning 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.

On Saturday, the World No. 200 capitalized on four of his 16 break-point chances and won 55 per cent of the total points played to prevail after two hours and four minutes.

Later in the afternoon, Klein continued his fine run of form this week in Germany by beating local wild card entry Henri Squire 6-4, 6-1. The 24-year-old from Spisska Nova Ves sent down four aces and won 68 per cent of his first-service points to advance in one hour and 18 minutes.

World No. 327 Klein, a winner of six titles on the ITF Pro Circuit, could lift his first ATP Challenger trophy. Bergs is bidding for his fourth ATP Challenger career title, his first of the season. The pair will meet for the first time. The singles final is scheduled for 1 pm local time.

Brown/King triumph in doubles

Earlier in the day, Dustin Brown of Jamaica and US-American Evan King earned the doubles title. the No. 2 seeds defeated Hendrik Jebens from Germany and Piotr Matuszewski of Poland 6-4, 7-5. The final lasted one hour and 16 minutes.

By winning their first team title, Brown and King split €2,670 in prize money and pocketed 80 ATP Doubles Ranking points.
