Federico Coria of Argentina is the champion of the 2022 Aspria Tennis Cup hosted by the Aspria Habour Club Milano. The top seed of the €45,730 ATP Challenger Tour clay-court event defeated eighth-seeded Italian Francesco Passaro 7-6(2), 6-4 in Sunday’s singles final.
In front of about 300 spectators on Center Court, Coria won 80 per cent of his first-service points, saved all three break points he faced and capitalized one of his own to break-point opportunities to seal victory in one hour and 35 minutes.

“A final always brings a little extra tension,” said Coria’s coach Andres Schneiter, nicknamed “Gringo” for his blond hair and blue eyes. “Francesco made a few more mistakes but fought until the end.”
By lifting his fourth ATP Challenger career trophy, his first of the season, the World No. 70 earned €6,190 in prize money as well as 80 ATP Ranking points.
“Last year we had the goal of finishing in the Top 100. This year we only wanted to play big tournaments,” Schneiter said. “We would like to win an ATP tournament but the idea is to build a ranking so that you can play these kind of tournaments on a regular basis.”
